Title:
St Nicholas, Grosmont

Author:

Description:
Denomination: Anglican
Address: Grosmont, Monmouthshire
Listing: Grade I

St Nicholas is a thirteenth century building, with a cruciform footprint. It was the church of Grosmont Castle, which was built around the same time. The interior is still largely medieval. It's thought that the timber roof is the only surviving pre-1400 church roof in Wales - tree ring dating shows that the timbers were felled around 1210.

Disgrifiad:
Enw: Sain Nicolas, Y Grysmwnt
Enwad: Anglicanaidd
Lleoliad: Y Grysmwnt, Sir Fynwy
Rhestru: Gradd I

Mae Sain Nicolas yn adeilad o'r drydedd ganrif ar ddeg, gydag ôl troed ar ffurf croes. Hon oedd eglwys Castell y Grysmwnt, a adeiladwyd tua'r un amser. Y tu mewn i'r adeilad ceir arddull ganoloesol i raddau helaeth. Credir mai'r to pren yw'r unig do eglwys yng Nghymru cyn 1400 sydd wedi goroesi - mae gwaith dyddio cylchoedd coed yn dangos i'r coed gael eu torri tua 1210.
