Title:
St Dyfnog, Llanrhaeadr

Author:

Description:
Denomination: Anglican
Address: Llanrhaeadr, Denbighshire
Listing: Grade I

This exceptionally fine late medieval parish church was probably built with money raised from pilgrims visiting St Dyfnog's holy well. It's believed that he lived here in the sixth century, and did penance at the well. The oldest part of the church still standing is thirteenth century, the tower. The Jesse window is a magnificent feature, a representation of the family tree of Jesus. It was completed in 1533, although the artist is unknown.

Disgrifiad:
Enw: Sant Dyfnog, Llanrhaeadr
Enwad: Anglicanaidd
Lleoliad: Llanrhaeadr, Sir Ddinbych
Rhestru: Gradd I

Mae'n debyg i'r eglwys y plwyf eithriadol o gain hon o ddiwedd y canol oesoedd gael ei hadeiladu gydag arian a godwyd o ganlyniad i bererinion yn ymweld â ffynnon gysegredig Sant Dyfnod. Credir iddo fyw yma yn y chweched ganrif, a gwneud ei benyd wrth y ffynnon. Y rhan hynaf o'r eglwys sy'n dal i sefyll yw'r tŵr o'r drydedd ganrif ar ddeg. Mae'r ffenestr Jesse yn nodwedd ardderchog, sef darlun o goeden deuluol Iesu. Fe'i cwblhawyd yn 1533, er nad yw'r arlunydd yn hysbys.
